創辦人於1967年來三義開設雕刻工廠，從事台灣神像的生產，1979年應日本客戶之要求，開始生產佛像雕刻，1983年增加目前館址前身的展示場（門市店）。

因應產業博物館時代的來臨，於2003年7月正式改制為千岱博物館，以發揚雕刻產業文化為宗旨，積極充實軟硬體設備，提昇服務品質，並常態性舉辦「台灣本土雕刻藝術家聯展」以推廣雕刻產業，提供人民對雕刻文化的認知及雕刻文化價值的認識。 
 

本館館藏包括三大類， 

一、藝術創作品

二、實用木雕桌、椅、屏風

三、神、佛像雕刻
 

以臺灣珍貴名木為材料，如牛樟、花樟、櫸木、紅豆杉、梢楠、紅檜、檜木，是認識台灣珍貴木材資源與了解雕刻文化傳承的寶庫。本館除了使參觀者了解木雕文化內涵，也持續活化雕刻產業展售空間，結合三義週邊觀光發展。以雕刻文化價值為經營特質的千岱博物館，期許帶動雕刻文化創意產業新風貌，開創雕刻產業的新紀元。
 

本館創始者は1967年に「三義」で彫刻工場を創設し、台湾の神像の生産作業に従事し始めました。1979年に日本市場に応えられるように仏像の生産も始められてきました。1983年に現地の前身の展示場（日大彫刻工場）を増設しました。

産業博物館時代の到来を迎え、2003年7月から正式に「千岱博物館」と改名され、彫刻産業文化を伸ばすのを宗旨とし、サービス水準を向上させるために積極的にハードウエアやソフトウエアを強化しております。それに人の彫刻文化の認知及び彫刻文化価値の認識を深め、彫刻産業を広めるために定期的に「台湾本土彫刻芸術家連合展示会」を開催しております。
 

本館の収集品は下記の三大種類に分けられています。

一． 芸術創作品

二．  実用木彫の机、椅子、屏風、花台

三．  神、仏像の彫刻
 

これらの作品は台湾の貴重な（牛樟、花樟、櫸木、紅豆杉、梢楠、紅檜、檜木）を材料として作られたものなので、台湾の貴重な木材資源の認識及び彫刻文化の伝承の宝庫となっております。

 

About Chien Dai Sculpture Art Museum

The founder of“ Chien Dai Sculpture Art Museum” came to Sanyi to establish a wood-carving factory in 1967. The main production of the factory was religion deities. In the year of 1979, because of the need by Japanese market, the factory started to make Buddhist statues. Here the former exhibition hall was establish in 1983 called “Ri-Da wood carving factory”.  
 

Due to the coming of museum age, Ri-Da wood carving factory was formally reformed into“ Chien Dai Sculpture Art Museum” in July of 2003, the main task of the museum is to promote and develop wood carving industry and its culture. For this mission, the museum enlarges software and hardware equipments, promotes its service, and holds “Taiwan Local Wood Sculpture Artists Group Exhibition” to popularize wood carving creation industry, and offer the knowledge about the cognition of wood carving culture and its culture value for audiences.   

The Main Collection of the museum includes:

1. Art creation.

2. Furniture and decorations with practical purpose such as tables, chairs, screens or flower stands.

3. Deity and Buddhist statues.

Materials among some of works are made from precious wood like staut camphor wood, camphor wood, elm, Chinese red yew, Taiwan incense cedar, cypress and so on, those works are valuable materials to know Taiwan forest resource and also the wood carving culture that hand down from the tradition. The museum functions is not only to give the understanding about inner meaning of wood carving art and culture, but also continue to active the commercial spaces to combine the tourism development around Sanyi.

The managing specialty of Chien Dai Sculpture Art Museum is about culture value in wood carving culture, and wishes to push forward the wood carving creative industry to open a new era that belong to wood carving industry.
